Airtel vs Vodafone blackberry services

Ever wonder which one to choose for your push mail services Vodafone or Airtel? You may be a hardcore fan of either company but when it comes to VAS and specially blackberry services “Airtel” is always better. How? let me explain you that;

Blackberry services on a non-blackberry handsets (Blackberry Connect)

If, you want to use blackberry services on a non-blackberry handset then you will get push mail services from both the providers but… while Airtel provides you GRPS services (for unlimited internet browsing, worth Rs. 599) free of cost, Vodafone will charge you for its “Mobile Connect” services Rs. 599 per month for unlimited web browsing.

Blackberry services on a blackberry handsets

I generally get a  few minutes delay in deliver of my mails in case of Vodafone which is not the case with Airtel or Tata or Reliance.

You will be charged at Rs. 0.35 per KB while you are on roaming where vodafone is not present (in most of the small cities or in routes you won’t find vodafone).

Same rates are charged by Airtel also but there are very few cities where you will not found Airtel so, if you are a user who roams alot then Airtel will be much better bet for you.

In pricing front also while Airtel charges just Rs. 899/- per month for unlimited data plan and Rs. 6990/- per year for the same, Vodafone will charge you Rs. 1099/- for the same.

Unlocking of Handsets

Airtel will take 8 to 10 days to deliver your unlock code for the blackberry handset in case you want the same while there is no such facility available with vodafone.

Nokia E series gets blackberry support again

Recent reports indicate that RIM is prepping for the much sought-after BlackBerry support for Nokia Series 60 handsets.
Earlier Nokia’s E-Series devices did support BlackBerry services until mid 2008. If you have been a keen follower of E-Series related news, you might recall that Nokia had back in July announced that it was discontinuing support for the BlackBerry service on most of its Series 60 based smartphones.
Nokia’s reversal of its decision has as expected taken most people by surprise. The plans were revealed by a senior official from Nokia. Tom Furlong, head of Nokia Messaging, in a recent Reuters interview said that RIM is working on readying support for their service on certain Nokia devices. The interesting fact to note is that Nokia and RIM are co-operating to bring the service back to the newer range of E-Series devices.

Nokia recently launched its Ovi service, an email service directed at first time users, in an attempt to concentrate on the relatively untapped mainstream consumer e-mail market. RIM, on the other hand, dominates the corporate mobile e-mail sector.

It also allows easy access to social networking sites and has built-in Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g).
